11 Things About Me

1. I am a Christian, and freely express it daily with absolutely no regrets.

2. I used to read all the time. Then in middle school I kind of fell off the bandwagon.  That is one reason that I took this class because I want my love for reading back.
3. I have a dog named DJ.  We rescued her a few years ago after the Joplin tornado.

4.I have only lived in Springfield for six months.  Before Springfield I lived in a small town called Nevada. I mean small as in there were only 600 kids in the entire high school.

 5. My favorite food is spaghetti which is probably a good thing since its easy to make and relatively inexpensive.

6. I have two older sisters and one older brother, but I am the only biological child of my parents. People often ask if it feels weird or if it makes me uncomfortable.  I always respond with the same line, "Its all I have ever known, so its normal to me."  They were all adopted before I was born, so to me they always have been and always will be my big brother and sisters.

7. I really enjoy volunteering in my free time. I have volunteered at a domestic violence shelter, during the school year with special needs kids, Special Olympics, and may more places.  I like to volunteer because it is nice to know that you can help with one small task that could ultimately change someones life for the better.

8. After high school I plan to attend Evangel University and get a degree to teach special education. I would like to work with either middle or high schoolers.  I chose this profession for two reasons.  One is because I have several family members that have disabilities.  The second reason is because I also know a lot of adults who work in this field.  Many of them have allowed me to volunteer in their classrooms during the school year and during the summer school courses.  Each time I work with these kids my love for the profession grows more and more.  Providing the kids with a caring and judgmental free environment where they can just be themselves is a lot of work, but when they succeed at something and you get to see their face light up with happiness and self-worth, it makes it all worth it.

9.If I could travel anywhere in the world I would go to Demjabooty, Africa.  Not only because of the mesmerizing views and the beautiful resorts, but also I enjoy seeing people's reaction when I say the word Demjabooty.

10. Most of my best friends are guys. Only because I can be myself and not worry about being judged. And for the simple fact that guys equal less drama.

11. Jazlyn Epps is amazing.  She is the best senior ever! I really like her hair.

  3. I made spaghetti last night. All of the ingredients I bought were on sale, so it made it that much better. I've worked with the special needs classes here at Parkview for the past 2 years and I've fallen in love with it. All the kids are always so nice and it's a great feeling knowing you can help and teach them things. Some people don't know how to handle them, so I think it's truly a gift if you have that ability. It's made me really think about working with them as a career, I just haven't really looked into yet. I would LOVE to volunteer at the Special Olympics at some point soon.
